LOOKING FORWARD TO ARROW SPINOFF

The Arrow-verse's inaugural show is set to end after a shortened eighth season, but that doesn't necessarily mean all of Arrow's characters will be out of commission. Certain twists of Arrow Season 7 have prompted fans to wonder if a spinoff is in the works, with the future-set "Star City 2040" feeling an awful lot like a backdoor pilot.

DC REALLY KILLED IT WITH SHAZZAM

There have been some shining examples of ideal casting in the superhero genre over the years. Christopher Reeve as the original on-screen Superman. Hugh Jackman and his masterful run through the X-Men saga as Wolverine. And the bulk of the original Avengers, with an emphasis on Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. To that list, we now add Zachary Levi’s Billy Batson, a teenage boy who transforms into a mighty, bulky hero (cape and all) by shouting the magic word “Shazam!”

MICHAEL HEIRST(VIKINGS CREATOR) IS BRINGING ANOTHER EPIC TALE

Michael Hirst will be behind a new adaptation of Doctor Zhivago. Yes! Vikings’ creator will set sail on a whole new world. Hirst will adapt Boris Pasternak’s novel for television, per Deadline. While it is a tale that has made it to the screen many times before, there is a crucial difference. The man behind an epic saga like Vikings has not gotten his hands on it.

RENEWED AND CANCELLED SHOWS ON NETFLIX

Can you remember all the way back to the time when Netflix seemed like it might only ever make a few dozen original series, and that none of them would ever get cancelled? That hilariously antiquated viewpoint was extremely relevant all of three years ago, somehow. Currently, however, Netflix is among the biggest entertainment providers on the planet, and its library of exclusives expands by the week, just daring viewers to ignore the rest of the world in order to binge freely.

US........... !!!!

Adelaide Wilson (Lupita Nyong'o) and her husband Gabe (Winston Duke) have brought their two children Zora (Shahadi Wright Joseph) and Jason (Evan Alex) on vacation to the Santa Cruz mountains. Against the wishes of Adelaide, the family takes a day trip down the famous Santa Cruz Boardwalk to visit with friends (Elizabeth Moss and Tim Heidecker). Adelaide experienced a traumatic event on the same boardwalk as a child, and still hasn't quite come to terms with it. However, she's forced to deal with her past that night when a family of four, dark and twisted versions of Adelaide's own family appear at the end of the driveway with clearly murderous intentions.

TOO BAD IDRIS ELBA WONT BE DEADSHOT

Last month, it was reported that due to scheduling issues, Will Smith wouldn’t reprise Floyd Lawton, a.k.a. Deadshot, in The Suicide Squad. Days later, word came in that Idris Elba had been tapped to replace Smith as the assassin, but apparently now plans have changed. Elba is still attached to the sequel, but he won’t be playing Deadshot.

SHOULD PARENTS BE WORRIED FOR THEIR KIDS WITH SHAZAM

For a long time, comic books were viewed as a medium geared toward kids, but the movies based on them certainly have not been. While most aren’t as mature as Deadpool or Logan, you probably still don’t want to take really little ones to watch their favorite heroes turn to dust in Avengers: Infinity War. That was mentally scarring even for some of the grown-ups.
